Guest Speaker Summary
Jeff spoke to us about the importance of camp for kids. Introduced by Paul.
Jeff is the founder of Fireside Adventures as well as Director of Camp Fircom. He has led expeditions to the Arctic, Germany and elsewhere. He recently paddles 420 kms down the Yukon River with a group including his 5 year old daughter, a life shaping event she should remember forever.
Jeff was able to accept 180 kids at Fircom as a result of our donations.
Jeff spoke passionately about the effect of camp on kids. He teaches that winning/losing do not matter. Participation, tolerance, experience, connecting with nature, learning leadership skills, inspiring to be explorers, and learning to give and not take are all life skills to be discovered.
Jeff is hopeful of providing 25 spots for refugee kids this summer.
Jeff has been a force behind creating Camp Suzuki on Howe Sound and creating a reserve.
Jeff is looking to Rotary to create a “Rotary Campership Fund” to help kids realize their potential.
Thanked by Caroline.
