Guest Speaker Summary
Belinda introduced Monica and our own Debbie T.
Superintendent Monica Pamer told us about SD 38 long term planning especially the Long Range Facilities Plan.
Enrolment is down in most of the 50 schools in Richmond due to demographics and programming.  2 schools are surplus. 4 parcels of land are held in reserve. 13% of the student population goes to private school which remains consistent.
25 schools are at high seismic risk requiring a $100 million investment.  Whether funds are spent rehabilitating them depends on age and projected population. As a result up to 5 schools will close due to seismic and population considerations.
School trustee Debbie told us the district is consulting with the community in various ways and has developed a public engagement website. 5 open houses are planned.
Monica and Debbie were thanked by Laine.

SERGEANT AT ARMS
Florence is working diligently on the book sale for Thompson Community Centre.
Pat is back from her Alaska cruise which she “won” at the auction.
Sorry ladies, Doug’s boat will be out of action for up to 6 months, or not depending on repairs. Doug is learning patience.
Debbie continues her love affair with “RV” last weekend in Pt. Townsend.
Marg is looking after her 96 year old aunt.
Larry leaves on a three week cruise ending in New Orleans with Steve. Unfortunately Larry will have some health issues to attend to.  We all offer our strength and support.
