Bridget Jacob President of the Rotary Club of Ladner and Elena presented on their Phillipines trip which included a Dental Mission and an ARES (Asian Ruggednized Educational System) project. ARES are computer devices that provide resources (videos, books, etc. for students from K to 12 in rural areas that don’t need internet access, but create their own server. The Dental Mission was over four days and served 1000 patients a day with 13 volunteer dentists (including Danny) with extractions, fillings and cleanings.
Meanderings
According to the Pew Research Centre only 27'% of police officers in the US fire their guns during their careers.
The U.S. Supreme Court this week held that LGBT employees were protected by the Civil Rights Act. Neil Gorsuch, a Trump appointee wrote the reasons for the majority. The Civil Rights Act was passed in 1964 and then expanded by LB Johnson in 1968 during the riots subsequent to the assasination of Martin Luther King.
Time is an illusion, unlike leisure time, which is very real, very precious and never to be disturbed.
