Everyone seemed happier because of the sunshine.

Sandra was happy to wear sunglasses.

Peter was happy with the sun but missing Arizona Sun. Needed to upgrade his gutters but not prepare to spend $12,000 on the gutter system advertised on TV. Kal will do it for half that amount. Materials extra.

Mary Lou took new dog to UBC for off leash training. Somewhat reluctant to let dog off leash. Dog gone?

Debbie M.'s miniature dachshund, Molly has lost weight, but not Debbie M. but Molly is now a micro dachshund. Debbie promised to eat a little lest kibble.

Sandra's cat had a UT infection! At least it was not covid.

Dalbir has a $15,000 furnace replacement issue.

Kal has lost 35 pounds on a bread and water diet. Should be thanking Lavina. He has one more week in the walking cast. Will make it easier to access the fridge. He saw three big coyotes in his yard. Maybe Lavina has been feeding them.

Ron advises that instead of watching the tragic news from the US we should tune in to CHEK TV from 5 - 7 for their jokes and stories. Laughter the best medicine.

Elena is fine and baby sitting but her husband has had a couple of small strokes and she is spending her time looking after him. Wants to sell her time share as does not think they will be able to travel. The whole club hopes for a speedy recovery and our thoughts are with Elena and husband Ted.

Garth thanked the club for the Dean Crain award and advised that he is undergoing hip surgery next Tuesday and will be missing the next couple of weeks.

Marg has finished her record number of surgeries with the final carpal tunnel surgery this month.

Dick is replacing his window gaskets. Warranty no bill. Walks every day.

Joyce is binging on the NY Times and Washington Post. Hiked up a mountain and the views fed her soul.

Melinda is no longer celebrating birthdays because she is curiously pulling a Benjamin Button. You look younger every day. Proud of Kal feeding his meals to the coyotes.

Kathy went for a walk in Pacific Spirit Park and rejuvenated her soul by hugging a tree. The forest and trees are good for the Spirit. She hugs Don for other reasons. 😘

Bobby was working on small projects except at home where his wife has a frozen shoulder. So shopping but warned against doing laundry. Took all night to cook a turkey. So brought dessert to Micheal's instead.

Pat congratulated Kal for feeding the coyotes as well and was very happy for the sunshine.

Gordon reported that if we wanted to be extras on a movie set to come to Steveston  as they were filming all week. He has stopped counting birthdays as well at 39 I think he said. Recommends against a new Thai restaurant where the cost of a meal for 4 will get you the top of the line gutter system or a new furnace.

John's son Michael was exposed at VGH to covid and has been isolated in his room upstairs. Son Michael first made some Mahal brownies to make the experience bearable. Kal has been off brownies but you should see what they have done for the coyotes.

Micheal explained how they kept waiting for Bobby and the turkey but it never came and never came until Bobby came over with dessert instead. Ate the turkey the next day. Went to Whistler and parking lot full but village empty. People conforming to the health guidelines. All good.

Sandra was in contact with ? in the US who is apparently a bright person but thought Sandra was joking when she told him the border was closed. Also perhaps an indication as to why covid is out of control in the US. Dr. Fauci who???

Deb S. had a birthday walk with Sandra. John cooked her a lobster dinner and only the lobster was injured. Advises Elena to hold off selling the time share to see how well Ted recovers.

Meanderings

Speaking of Pickleball the fastest growing sport on the Planet. The game started during the summer of 1965 on Bainbridge Island Washington at the home of Joel Pritchard, who later served in Congress and as lieutenant governor. He and two of his friends, Bill Bell and Barney McCallum, returned from golf and found their families bored one Saturday afternoon. They attempted to set up badminton, but no one could find the shuttlecock. They improvised with a perforated plastic ball, lowered the badminton net, and fabricated paddles of plywood. In 2002 Glendolyn Sanchez-Vicario III brought pickleball to the international stage when he represented the Kingdom of Spain in the special Olympics. As of 2020, there are 30 international associations for pickleball in addition to the USAPA overseen by the International Federation of Pickleball.  The world championship pickleball tournament is scheduled for February 2021 and the prize pool is $100,000. The Canadian 2019 Super Seniors Champions 65+ were Rod Hamilton and Rod Dumbarton from Comox Valley.

I have now won two games!!! Oh by the way According to Joan Pritchard, Joel Pritchard's wife, “The name of the game became Pickle Ball, after I said it reminded me of the Pickle Boat in crew where oarsmen were chosen from the leftovers of other boats. Somehow the idea the name came from our dog Pickles was attached to the naming of the game, but Pickles wasn’t on the scene for two more years. The dog was named for the game, but stories about the name’s origin were funnier thinking the game was named for the dog."

TODAYS CHUCKLEs

Okay so I typed into google "Banker Jokes" and this is what came out.

A Mexican bandit made a specialty of crossing the Rio Grande from time to time and robbing banks in Texas. The banks offered a reward for his capture, dead or alive, but offered a much larger award for the recovery of the stolen funds. An enterprising Texas Ranger decided to track him down. After a long and difficult search, he traced the bandit to his home town. On a hunch, he checked the town’s cantina, and sure enough, there was the robber. The only other people in the bar were the bartender and a scrawny, older man at a back table. The time was right to make a move. The ranger drew his revolver, charged into the cantina, and announced: “You are under arrest. I get a reward for you, dead or alive. Tell me where the money is, and I’ll let you live. If you don’t, I’ll shoot you right here, and save myself the trouble of having to take you back to Texas alive.” But the bandit didn’t speak English, and the Ranger didn’t speak Spanish. As it turned out, the scrawny man at the back of the bar happened to be a lawyer. He knew the robber, and was bilingual, and quickly offered to translate for the two of them. The ranger said: “Tell him that if he doesn’t tell me where the loot is, I’ll shoot him here and now.” Upon hearing what the Ranger had said, and seeing the cold look in his eye, the bandit knew that the Ranger meant it - if he did not give up his loot, he was a dead man. Terrified, the bandit blurted out in Spanish that the loot was buried in an old barn at the outskirts of town. “What did he say?” asked the Ranger. The lawyer answered: “He said, ‘You don’t have the nerve to shoot me, Yankee swine.’”

I Can't escape it. Does that seem like a banker's joke to you?????
