Pat reminds us that the Board meeting has changed to October 15 at Marg’s. You can become a DG if you’ve been a member for at least 7 years – anyone interested?
Marg: The Youth Committee wants to know if we want to host a student either short or long term. An email is forthcoming.
Bobby was in touch with Kwantlen re. scholarships, and the criteria (volunteer experience and financial need) including work experience, educational goals and achievements. Bobby will send an email, and we will look carefully at the criteria so that we are avoiding duplications. Oct. 24 is the donor appreciation dinner.

CLUB BUSINESS
Blair: Poinsettia sales this year will go to Rotary Foundation. We will do a Christmas luncheon after the poinsettia distribution.
Pat: Send Pat any nominations for president-elect and secretary and bulletin editors. Board reports should be submitted by Oct. 12.
Blair: reminder about the Rotary Foundation Dinner – Nov. 23. There are donation opportunities, and auction items needed. If you purchase your $125 ticket, there may be a hotel certificate for $100. We should try to get a enough attendees for a table.
Jeannette: Sunday, Nov 10 (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) there will be a flu shot clinic at Yaohan Centre. We need volunteers. More information coming.
Debbie M.: Pathways is hosting, on Nov. 2, a dinner-dance at the Continental Restaurant. Tickets are $65 or a table of 10 for $600 for the 10-course dinner. Let Debbie know if you’re coming and we can get a table.
Bobby: We received thank-you letters from scholarship recipient Samaya Pankanea, Baddies and Jasper Caring, for our supports.
Marg: at Gilmore breakfast, Bob and Karen Shoker were there. Bob buys $100s worth of Girl Guide cookies every year and donates them to the Food Bank. Anyone who wants some cookies can contact Bob.

Debbie T. for the Projects Meeting, we all discussed the applications, and the following motions were made:
Rotary World Help: $7000 towards the cost of shipping a 40-foot container of donations from Vancouver port to its final destination to Cebu, Philippines, supporting typhoon victims. Motion carried.
Homeless Connect: $500 for the annual event to connect (potentially) homeless people with local services. Motion carried.
Operation Rainbow: $10,000 for free reconstructive surgery for facial deformities in Mombasa, Kenya, in November 2024, submitted by Dr. Kimit Rai (connected to Sandra). Motion carried.
Metro Theatre: $6000 for a portable speaker system. 16 in favour, 7 opposed. Motion carried.
Caring Hearts: $2000 for Dental mission in the Philippines. (Danny)
