Repeat from last week: June 25th 2020 will be at 14431 Knox Way Richmond B.C. for President Sam's farewell(aka "A Roast")
And this week from President Sam: Register for whether or not you are prepared to attend the president's dinner. This is likely redundant by the time you receive this bulletin. The decision to hold the President's dinner and when and where will be announced this week. It may be postponed.
The Board has made Eleanore Matthew an Honorary Member of our club for her tremendous contribution to our Auction. Eleanore was floored and very honoured but the news.
Please direct any questions to me or a board member of your choosing and we will discuss any and all questions or concerns during our board meeting.

Sergeant At Arms Tidbits
Brian celebrated his birthday yesterday by playing golf. Notice he did not tell us his score. He has also been appointed president of his curling club at a 5.5 hour board meeting. It did not sound like it was because of the camaraderie and wine.
Bill is hoping to live until his 33rd wedding anniversary. Congratulations Bill - if you make it.
Mary Lou AKA cousin ITT was the first member to talk about finally getting her hair done. Will we recognize you?
Chris B. has seen more of her children and grandchildren because of Covid 19.
Sandra Hass has resorted to hunter/gatherer society in order to procure her food.
Peter reports that Therapeutic Riding will begin in July and that the horses are also missing the kids.
Debbie S. daughter saved a hummingbird and was pooped on for her trouble and for luck.
Marg D. is on the emergency hip replacement list and we hope you get to the top of the list soon.
Bobby G.'s wife had a birthday party and he was not invited. Should he be worried.
Thanks Bobby for opening up your hall for our club.
Garth reported that Cor Leoni performed a YouTube concert attended by 400.
Debbie T.'s cat showed it's love for the dog by gifting a dead mouse. Debbie also reminded us about looking after animals at this time and the fund raiser for SPCA "Lock in for Love" if you are interested contact Debbie.
Members are happy to get out, go to restaurants get their hair cut and visit with family and friends. May our restrictions continue to be lifted.
spEAKER
Our Speaker was Glen Kishi who spoke to us about the FeedUcate program dedicated to feeding children who come to school without having eaten. He retired from his role as the School Boards District Principal 7 years ago when he had heard about schools providing breakfasts for students who would come to school without having eaten. He called a meeting of teachers and administrators to start raising money for food for the students in need. He told us it was all organized and delivered by volunteers and that all money donated goes to buy healthy food. FeedUcate has raised about $20,000 each year for 7 years for food for students. With Covid 19 and kids not coming to school the organization pivoted to filling grocery bags and delivering the food to the students homes. Richmond High gym is filled with food and they are having to fend off the rodents. Glen spoke of many community organizations that have helped with the program including Food Safe and Save on Foods who provide groceries at a discount. They also buy some food from the Food Bank. The Educational Assistants will fill the grocery bags and bus drivers will deliver the food. The district has set up a web site for donations and Glen himself raised $7,000 on his face book page. With help from the community they have raised $40,000 for healthy food and serve about 250 kids. Go to https://www.sd38.bc.ca/our-district/donations to donate to this great service.
Meanderings
There are presidents of the United States that did do the right thing in the face of overt violent racism. A book, Unexampled Courage - The Blinding of Sergeant Isaac Woodard is about President Truman's response to the severe beating of a Black serviceman who was blinded as a result of his beating and a Jury finding the sheriff who did the beating not guilty. Truman desegregated the armed forces of the US within a year of the events in the face of strenuous objections. The white Judge who heard the case also became a leading advocate for civil rights in Charleston South Carolina even though he and his wife were made pariah's and isolated from white society. A good read in these troubled days.

Today's Chuckle
Given the concern surrounding asymptomatic carrier's of covid 19 there are other asymptomatic conditions as well. For example Bob's a carrier of intelligence but he is asymptomatic. (apologies to our Bob but that was the name in the joke).
