John thanks everyone for last night.
Mary Lou thanks Chuck for his presentation and thanks everyone for last night. Oscar is sick today so Mary Lou will have him home as he won’t go to preschool. She was going to walk the Sun Run on Sunday, but her knee is acting up. Alan is busy driving every vehicle they own, with tops down and enjoying the beautiful weather.
Chris P. admits to having spent way too much time at the River Rock and misses the Lulu’s of 20 years ago. She is happy it will come alive again. She was happy to help with the baskets for the first time and praises Graham as an unrecognized hero, as he took a full day off work for packing items there and back. She is in awe of him.
Peter had sad news that he lost a neighbour of 50+ years last week. He has had a preamble of teeth implant, with only soft foods, and being careful, and seems to be ok. His son bought a new 2024 Camaro, the last of the line as they will be phased out. It is dark blue, with 455 HP and does 0-60 in four seconds. His son is 51, and had a new Camaro in 1991, not even close to this one, so maybe it’s a mid-life crisis. Peter didn’t know how his son could afford such a car, then realized he was now the president of his company.
Judy remembers renting a car which turned out to be a Camaro, and it was so low slung that you had to really get down to get into it. She was in Birch Bay on the weekend and went to the Mount Baker Theatre to see Uptown, a Motown trio, and will see Cher in May (not the real one). She is making regular Science World visits with her youngest grandson as they have a season’s pass.
Debbie M. was in Kelowna last week with Miles, a well-needed break with friends, lots of wine and lots of sleep. Her son-in-law is out of the hospital right now, on a trial with new medication so hopefully he’ll do better on this. His mother arrived yesterday from Spain and will stay for a month.
Kal thanks Chuck. Bill just texted from Lisbon and will soon be home. He remembers when Larry got married at the River Rock, and Judy, the maid of honour, was mistaken for the bride.
Chris B. spent lots of time with her grandson in the car between swim practices and cupcakes and a birthday Lego gift. She spent 11 days with the 6 ft. tall guy and has become a swim grandmother. Due to the terrible weather, they couldn’t go to Safari Park.
Gordon doesn’t charge thousands of dollars to hear him sing like Mick Jagger although I think Gordon can move like Jagger. 
He is excited about the changes at River Rock and has been to many conferences and meetings there. To note – the conference next year for the district will be at River Rock!
Jeannette went for her birthday dinner in Olympic Village, for an early lunch on Sunday at Sun Sui Wah dim sum, then this week will attend an engagement lunch. Last Saturday there was an incident at the hospital, involving an 86-year-old patient who didn’t want to stay in the hospital, took a butter knife, broke the window, and jumped out. The incident is under investigation.
Elena received a phone call from BCTV and is being interviewed about Rotary World Help, talking about containers to the Ukraine and to the Philippines. They wanted to portray positive things in B.C. and this will likely air in 3-4 weeks.
Carolyn was on the Richmond Chamber of Commerce board for 6-8 years and knows how smart and astute Chuck is. She has attended her last meeting and will miss meeting with him. She thanks Chuck for all his hard work.
Joyce has had an amazing 3 weeks, with many surprises from friends. She was surprised with a belly dancer who taught her to dance, complete with jingling things.
She went to Tigh Na Mara with a group of friends, wore wigs were involved. Then there was a surprise party for her with friends from all walks of her life. She had no clue! Last week’s dental surgery was less traumatic than she thought it would be.
Chris M. congratulated Amanda on the great basket-making session where baby Eleanor made her debut, and was held by Judy, who taught Eleanor’s dad in Grade 6 and 7. Chris’ son Mark and his wife Alison are leaving today for their honeymoon at a luxurious all-inclusive in Jamaica. Her ex, “Papa” is coming from France this week to meet the baby.
Pat says the basket making was awesome, with great organization and an amazing Graham. She had oral surgery last week for a cracked root, where they had to go in through the jaw and hopes she passes the test on the after-surgery care. Today she planned to go to Tea and Trumpets, but is too busy, so has two free tickets for the Orpheum at 2 p.m.
Melinda is going to two-day concert at B.C. Place, all country music, and has told John he can sleep when he’s dead. Her ex is also coming soon, maybe in July or August.
Debbie T. had a good awareness event on Sunday, not tons of cars but a big car show, and coverage was good on CTV news, so they had good exposure. It was a drive to destigmatize, not advocating doing drugs, but people do drugs and they’re people too. The dogs were stars sticking their heads out the window. At one point her husband had the leashes and she had the dogs, she fell, landed on her behind in the coffee, and one of the photos showed a good shot of the coffee butt. With all of the bows and everything, some people thought it was a wedding, but at least they got to hear Curtis’ voice via the car. Little by little she hopes they’re making a difference. Today she is off to the B.C. School Trustees conference at the Bayshore, is not doing any marathons but will do the Sun Run which she can always walk or walk-run. She needs to restart her running career.
Amanda thanked everyone and will pass the message on to Graham. Kal’s management skills were top drawer. Everything is wrapped and her entire second room is taken over with wrapped baskets and she can shut the door. The cat is mad as there are no more baskets to play in. Larry is awesome for giving us the venue.
Garth said that one of his golf buddies died last week, and just as sad, one of those who started the golf group didn’t remember they were friends. Garth actually wasn’t on death’s doorstep, had spinal fusion for a collapsed disc, but some people thought it was the knee. But all is good now, and he was just begging off the last meeting. He still can’t drive into Vancouver and do all day meetings. As he received a golf game as a get-well gift, he thinks he will whine a bit more. He sees the doctor next week.
Bobby thanks Chuck. He has had a super hectic week, with Sanjit in London with Ethan, Micheal in India, and having to manage both Surrey and Richmond. So, no time off but at least he has his new car to drive to Surrey. His birthday is next week. He will be off to Whistler the following week, just before the gala.
Bob thinks Micheal is the smartest of the 3 brothers, as he goes on vacation and gets paid. He remembers his first concert at $29.95. The Penticton project is going well, with presales June 15 at the presentation centre, open in June, and 5 wineries, including Phantom Creek, participating. The site is at Government and Industrial.
