Mary Lou has decided to celebrate her birthday for a month a la Judy May. She, meaning Mary Lou, is attended the IWD celebration at the Richmond Resource Centre on Saturday. She, again meaning Mary Lou, is looking forward to hosting the Board meeting Monday for all of those who can find her place.
Amanda does like to show up when the rest of us are not here. She had a week of opposites where she was asked for ID and then as she went to sit down fell backwards in slow motion and has injured her back.
Sandra announced that former member Laine has had her second child.
Debbie T. had been begged to go to Maui and so she has booked a flight on a deal and leaves on Monday to her happy place.
Sam’s dad’s birthday (whom we assume to be Bill) was on the weekend. Justin (whom I am beginning to believe is often right) said the party should have a theme. So, Sam made a running cake because his dad (assume Bill) is in to running. The cake will have Macaroons in figures that look like a person running so when you spin the cake around it looks like someone running (whom we assume is Bill).
Dalbir is off to Mexico. Is still having all sorts of visitors including a son of a friend who was going through naval college because he wanted to join the Canadian Navy like his uncle. After the four years of college the uncle then tells him he should never join the navy. Bad timing.
Judy spent Friday catching up with friends. Son Warren turned 47 yesterday and they all enjoyed a family dinner together.
Debbie M. was last IDed about 50 years. (just saying that for two years of covid we were all IDed). She has had a busy week including out for dinner and spent time with Larry before his surgery. Granddaughter goes “mmmmm” for what she Debbie cooks but not what mom cooks. Miles will eat anything “wummmmmmmmmmmm”.
Kal is getting an updated MRI. Also news flash traded to Steveston Club for a sack of hammers and a third round draft pick. Lights on at Kals but not Peters. Huh!
Peter had no power so he could not shower or shave. He was starting to look like Brian (unshaven – Brian offered to show us his back – possibly the missing link) Peter had a friend from Bella Coola pass away who had been in great shape but died of cancer last week and his wife died days later.
Marg had a couple of good dinners out and saw “Teenage Dick” which is a play, based on King Richard III who meets mean girl. The play was superb, and the theatre was packed with a high school drama class. The play is well written and acted. Marg is off to a Canuck game and a IWD fundraiser.
Hirsute Brian reported that his daughter Meredith won the provincial U21 so she is off to Quebec for the National Championships. Her UVic team won the regionals so she will also be competing in the college championships. Other kids dance team was invited to Disneyland so just back from five days in Disneyland. Brian is now single, so he says “Judy watch out”. (Just make sure he shaves first!)
Pat has been ill for a month with a virus so has little energy. But her grandson’s hockey team did well in a tournament in Vegas. He and several others from his team are invited to play on team North America and go to Slovenia for a tournament. So the whole family is going to the hockey tournament in Slovenia in July.
Micheal booked West Oak and ordered the valentines special which included a 32 ounce tomahawk steak and a bottle of champagne. They brought a really nice second bottle of champagne and he broke one of the fragile champagne glasses so the restaurant brought another steak. He went to whistler for three days. Todays is son’s graduation and receives his diploma today. Michael is getting ready for his classification speech next week.
Garth is starting day 13 of an18 day trial with a 2nd book of documents that he had not seen before dumped on him yesterday (which by the way is not proper practice). But Garth thought it best he go look at them before trial today.
Susan met her goal this morning which was to bring her wine. She has a busy day ahead and uncertain what to wear because she is overdressed for Rotary but not the Mayor’s luncheon. So she kept her coat on through breakfast. She has shopped for something purple for IWD and is also looking for something pink. She is meeting someone this morning whom she has not seen in ages.
Jeanette brought her wine for the Gala.
Blair’s middle daughter is pregnant with a girl to add to his 3 grandsons. He was IDed to confirm he was a senior and is off to Grand Prairie.
I had a great time at the Parq for our 45th anniversary but the Victor restaurant had average food for the price. But a good place to people watch on a Saturday night.
Max reported that the soccer fields were closed but he had golfed and off to Victoria for weekend.
Christine M. is going to Victoria to look after her nieces cat which is transitioning to another food (to lose weight) so are expecting issues. They may play some golf. Participated in the coldest night of the year walk where there was a great turn out. Took her daughter to the Hog Shack for her birthday where they ordered platters of meat and surprise - no left overs. She met Rod a year ago when she fell flat on her face in the mud. For the one year celebration he picked her up in a limo had access to a penthouse and had an amazing meal with champagne and a gift of ear rings.
Joyce has been stuck in her house for many weeks with the flu. The Chimo walk had 48 participants from the seniors program and raised $45,000 when the goal was $25,000. She will be away for awhile.
Debbies S. got her Rotary wine at the Liquor Quicker store where she was ID ed for the 10% over 60 discount. She had an uncle Dick and her daughter used to giggle when he was mentioned. There is a Dicks Sporting Goods store which she just says she loves - the sporting good store that is. 😉
Bobby’s daughter visited from Toronto for a few hours and then to LA. Bobby was chewing on toffee and pulled off a crown. He was trying to clean the crown but it slipped and fell into the sink. But the plumber saved the crown and the dentist will repair it. He is busy this week with work and a lot of personal things.
Melinda is back from Maui where there was massive flooding and she witnessed the body of the firefighter who had been sucked into a man hole by the water. The waves were crazy and the guards were asking people to keep out of the water. Another man who was hit by a wave did not make it. On Super Bowl Sunday a motor vehicle hit a couple trees and flipped and the driver ran away and left the car. Melinda has hurt her shoulder but even with massage and acupuncture she is not getting better so seeing the Dr. John is going to Australia with Heath for three weeks.
