Gordon was still waking up but perked up when he talked about the great time he had with the auction basket making. He is not sure what he has to wear to be pink and pretty.
Carolyn was trying to forget her image of Gordon in pink. She has been so busy the little grand child is missing her with some tears when Carolyn leaves. Kudos to Debbie T. for her event last week. Carolyn also enjoyed the Corleone concert last week.
Joyce felt the emotional impact of the Friday remembrance of those lost to drug overdose. The purple ribbons and message was so emotional.
Mary Lou has been trying to hold a corporate event, a Corleone concert, but it has been snowed out twice in a row including once last year. It had been a lot of work but worth it in the end. Her Dad has been diagnosed with prostate and colon cancer and now has all kinds of medical appointments. Grandson Oscar has fractured his foot and has a walking cast on. He and Peachy have become a three legged race team and are planning on going pro.
Bob was hungry after the RCRG awards as he was expecting something more than appies. He did look a little gaunt today. (at least for a brown guy).
Marg had only one choice of disappointing wine at the awards. Kudos to Susan and the emcee who mentioned Sunrise Rotary many times. She thankfully has no celebrations of life scheduled but at the last one she was at, three people got covid. She is going to England to see her brother who has colon cancer.
Debbie M. is grateful for the amazing team in the club and she looks forward to coming every Thursday. Chris M. and Bobby have been extraordinary. She paddled during the nice sunny evening yesterday. Today her daughter and Manuel are seeing the oncologists and hoping for good news. As are we all.

Kal says his is the best table with no Peter and no “Blah Blah Blah” Bill. Kal listened to Chris M. and understood every French word right after the bonjour. Nope sorry that was the only French he understood (to be fair he also understood “oui” and “merci” and all of the Punjabi). Melinda did a great job speaking on behalf of the Club at the Volunteers are Stars awards.
Blair went to his first auction meeting and thanked everyone for the food and the great meeting. He was also volunteered for some duty at the auction. Which may not be so great.
Pat congrats to Susan. Dave Macdonald is great because however much you donate he writes a personal note. Pat really enjoyed Corleone as well.
Amanda gave thanks to everyone for helping with basket making. Has had a busy week including Tuesday at Mach 32 (? Could not find it but did find a Mott 32) for the full dinner experience and it was so good. She may become a regular there and we will seek clarification next week.
Susan proud of her family and her Rotary family. She is honoured and very grateful to be awarded the Volunteers are Stars award for leadership and we all got to see her trophy. She went to Harolds to celebrate. She thanked Amanda for her work even though Susan felt she was all thumbs making baskets but was helped immensely by her partner Elena. So glad that Debbie T. got so much press for the event. The field full of flags and ribbons and pictures was a very good way to honour those who have died from overdose.
Elena this week was Rotary everyday including the April 15th event. Coincidentally she has the same birthday as Susan. She had lunch at the Quilchena golf course with members from the Rotary Friendship exchange.

Peachy is finally back after her fall on February 17th and then surgery. She had two months with no walking but expects to be 100% for the auction. (and for the three legged race with Oscar.) Thanks to Kal for his help and for the client referrals. Thanks to Jeanette, her RN who does her assessment.
Danny has been busy at work but most importantly he got his passport and went to Seattle so he has his first travel stamp (at least on that passport). 🥷
I am off to Kelowna next week to babysit so Chris M. will be taking the bulletin notes – thankyou. I had a coffee with Blair’s boss (this point is hotly disputed) and understand that Blair has been hired and fired at least twice.
Michael has a wedding in the family as Sanjeev’s daughter is getting married. Michael has125 homes to deliver invitations to over three days. He visited 55 homes in one day. He is then off to Whistler next week. A Cousin has bought Nickelback’s huge house which amongst other huge houses.
Sandra, who is not an early riser gets early morning energy from our club. She is also tired of wearing closed toes shoes - can't wait for it to warm up and dry up. Recommends Toast to Coast in Steveston.
Chris M. thanked Susan for helping to get Max to the district conference. She felt privileged to be at the event organized by Debbie with the sea of purple flags each representing a life that has been lost to drug overdose. Debbie T was well spoken, and her two boys spoke from the heart. The message was powerful that nobody is protected from this problem, and it can happen just by accident. Chris M. was interviewed in French by Radio Canada. Her friend Peter from Rotterdam is getting older and crotchety (whatever that means). Max and Peter made pasta where Peter is very particular about what he eats and how it is cooked, and Max is “whatever”. They made quite a pair arguing about cooking, until Peter was self isolating with a cold. And Max is ? Apparently they all made a great trivia team with Max beaming about getting the number of goals right for some player in some unmentioned sport (which must be soccer).
Garth enjoyed his walking at the waterfront on Wednesday. He has been trying to call his Dr. whose answering machine message centre is full. The Dr. can only be contacted by phone so Garth called 161 times before he finally got through. He now is scheduled to have someone he doesn’t know stick needles in his spine I think he said with "shit" in them. (does not sound like a probiotics treatment).
Bobby now knows why he was waiting on his phone call to Garth. He will be at Whistler and miss next weeks meeting. Michael has not invited him to the wedding yet. He is also very busy with the auction.
For Melinda it was an honour to represent the club at Volunteers are Stars. Her hat is off to Kal who knows people who know people and he is a great ambassador to the club (our very own Barack). Tragically 600 more people have passed in the last three months from drug overdose. It is difficult to remain positive. It is the leading cause of death right now is drug overdose. She is grateful to be allowed to be president (and we are grateful to have her).
