Last weeks meeting
 
Speaker was Rick Dubras of RASS (Richmond Addiction Services Society). He gave us an excellent overview of all the facets of this important Society. He described one of their programs for which the club will soon be receiving a funding request. It is the RDP (Recovery Day Program). In summary this program "creates an environment and opportunity for addicted youth to focus on recovery as well as to support the families in long term recovery needs". He said the opioid crisis exists in Richmond, there are too many deaths right here.....

Sargent At Arms tidbits
(SAA conducted by John)
 
 - President Larry requested an abbreviated SAA, in order to give our speaker more time. This proved to be a good plan as RASS is a big subject!
 
- Carolyn has discovered a new source of inspiration quotes: Just dial up a wrong number and leave a message "need your inspiration quote for tomorrow". An unknown person might phone back with a good quote  - and one did!!
 
- Georgina brought an important mountain hiking tip from Ryan (North Shore Rescue event) "If lost go UP, do NOT go down as those tempting avalanche corridors often lead to big danger!
 
- Sandra is back from a 25 yr anniversary (of one of her company's suppliers) event in London England. She reports that it was an excellent event but it was very hot (35 - 37) and NO AC! 
 
- Now that school is out Chris M reported that she is SO relaxed she almost missed Rotary... Bulletin editor says "me too"... 
 
- We sang Happy Birthday for Larry's 39th (or maybe 49th) birthday...        
 
Meanderings
 
President Larry took time at the end of the meeting to thank members for attending (especially) our summer meetings. It would be very easy as Chris M mentioned to just sleep in...
It is a mark of our club (in my opinion) that we have a fun, friendly, enthusiastic environment that draws us to attend if possible....
