Debbie S is working on putting together the succulents for her fundraiser for the Ukraine October 1 at 1312 Beach Grove Road in Tsawwassen. Apparently someone does not like succulents and some even admitted to not knowing what they are?????? They look like this 🌱
Larry has not been well but wanted to be at Rotary so he could thank those who have wished him well. He is stressed about mom’s service at the Life Centre where he will give the Eulogy which will be streamed live back east. He is honoring his mom’s life to help with closure.
Dick confirms that Larry is amazing. Dick’s recent sign that covid is over is his daughter and partner who are visiting digital nomads but for the first time since covid have come to visit in person. Oh and he has a Dental appointment.
Bobby is busy with the treasurer’s role and enjoyed Debbie S’s excellent salad at the Board meeting. He also wishes Larry all the best and is surprised at the energy he exhibits.
Bob enjoyed the board meeting but hat to google what succulents were and they are plants. They look like this 🌱He hiked the Seymour trail on the weekend which took 5 hours up and back. He enjoyed the nice party at Sandra’s and also a big party on Saturday for his Birthday which is both the 24th and the 28th.

Blair was sent to the adult table on a recon to spread the wealth of naughty table. He met with his mentor Tuesday (yours truly) who told him the club no longer has the Progressive Dinner or Fireside chats. Oops! 🤥 Blair spent some time at birthday parties on the weekend.
Michael had a busy weekend getting ready to get back to work. As he sat around his brother Sanjit says an uncle in California has passed and someone from the family should go. So Micheal on Saturday goes to Sacramento and Sunday is the funeral. The next day is a shopping day then back to work and Rotary. His Uncle had got into the peach farming and by the time of his death he owned about 80,000 acres in many different states and produced 75% of all peaches in the USA and was the largest peach producer in the world. Our very own Peachy is named for Micheal’s Uncle's business. 🤥
Sam had a good week as he has formed an LGBTQ hockey team and lost only 2 – 1. Apparently, it is just like regular hockey except they listen to Britney Spears in the locker room. Who knew? This is an LGBTQ hockey stick and puck. 🏒
Bill gave his condolences to Larry. Thanked Sandra for the great party.
Brian who anyone barely recognized had lots of funny stories that he chose not to share – at least not yet. He had visited with Laine Ferguson as her brother had passed away and it was nice to catch up with her and the family who are doing very well in Nelson. Went camping at Christina Lake which was great. Will fill us in on Meredith’s dating life later and by that he may mean sometime in the new year. Hope not, Brian it was great to see you. Would also like to hear about her curling life.
Kal thinks Bill and P.K. Subban have a lot in common they are both retired hockey players and humanitarians and they look like brothers. While Kal was getting off the cruise ship in Long Beach there were officers with guns. Apparently 15 guys were arrested for fighting on the ship.
Judy had a good trip to LA and on the cruise ship the news of which will apparently stay on the cruise ship. (Unless Brian tells us when he comes to another meeting sometime next year.) Did it have anything to do with succulents?🌱 Judy came back Sunday and has been busy every night since. It was one of her Grandson’s birthday who is excited about being in the double digits. Always thinking about Larry.
Marg reminded us to sign up for breakfasts and thanked Bob the Iqbal Shoker for this morning’s breakfast. Marg has finished canning and already has sold $450 worth. She is going to Alberta for her 50th (I think) wedding anniversary. She also stayed up to watch the Queen’s funeral service.
Peter says mothers really ground you and condolences to Larry and will see him on Monday and wishes him a speedy recovery. Peter has been away fishing but the fish can relax now as Peter is no longer a threat. He was at White Lake near Salmon Arm which is pristine and the fish are plentiful. The daily maximum is four so for the most part it is catch and release. He won the trophy for an almost three pound fish.
Christine B. says that in Alberta you can only catch so many fish and they will even count fish in your freezer. She has never been fishing but it is on her bucket list. Should have bought the live auction item from Peter when you had the chance. She ain’t saying what happened on the cruise ship with Judy either. But it must have had something to do with succulents. Like this one 🌱
Sandra had a great wedding celebration on Saturday and the caterer was great if you are looking for one. No more left overs and she is looking forward to finally doing nothing.
Elena celebrated her sister’s 80th birthday who every day walks for one hour. Her sister enjoys visiting small villages in the Philippines where there is no internet and she teaches the village children. She was a nurse.
Peachy nothing exciting but sitting in front of computer to manage her business of care givers and shopping around on line to find best health care.
Danny said it was nice to be back after being away for 1.5 months. He traveled to the UAE stayed in Dubai and saw the 828 metres tall building and the island shaped like a palm tree. He then traveled to Israel shortly after the Palestinian’s sent 450 rockets toward Tel Aviv which were intercepted by the iron dome missile defence system. He travelled to the Sea of Galilee, Bethlehem and the Dead Sea. He traveled to Masada a Unesco heritage site where one thousand Jews at the end of the First Jewish – Roman war are said to have committed suicide. Danny then visited Jordan then to the Philippines. He presented our club with the Rotary Banner from the first Tel Aviv club that started in 1962.
Garth claims Israel is a country with PTSD and finds that they do not negotiate.
Gordon has fond memories of Tel Aviv with sandy beaches and there was Gordon’s bar on the beach in front of his hotel. Did a presentation in Israel and everyone was arguing during the break and then fully focused during the presentation. He has had a disastrous week with the tv, lap top and fridge all blowing up. Here I just thought that was a spectacular sunset over Steveston.
Dalbir had a travelling week much like Danny’s trip. Dalbir had lunch in Burnaby and dinner in New Westminster all in the same day. Covid is over as he retired a year ago and his retirement dinner is now finally going to happen.

Debbie T. is sorry to hear about Larry’s mom. Debbie found their golden retriever laying at the side of the as a result of a tumour on her spleen so sadly had to put her down. Charlie and wife are basking at the pyramids and so Debbie is looking after their puppy for a month. It makes for a lively house.
Melinda had no words for losing a mom. John gets his eye opened on October 7th. Willow told her mom she wanted to try ice skating so she is on her knees pushing the ice scooter and claimed she was skating. Bonding at Newman’s Fine Foods as young employee shaved half his head and coloured it white with red hearts. So he was challenged to a hundred yard dash by another employee, Herman, who would get hearts on his head or the kid would have to shave his head depending on who won. So Herman hurt his knee and now has hearts on his head. There was lots of trash talk and great team bonding. Is leaving for the US as sister in laws husband passed away and going to the service. Has not seen them since pre covid. Rory is apparently starting a Hudson’s Bay trading post as she collected seventeen blankets at a gathering I did not catch.
