Mary Lou spent two weeks camping on Vancouver Island. She took the ferry from Port McNeil to Bella Bella. They spent the night on what they thought was the Pentecostal church parking lot but only after a 10 PM knock on the door, getting yelled at, and paying $30 each. Turned out it was really someone’s private property. They enjoyed a 2.5 hour presentation at the indigenous centre where they learned that 70 cities host Bella Bella native artifacts. But the story does not stop there. Turned out the ferry to Bella Coola had broken down so BC Ferries put their campers on a barge and taken to Bella Coola while they took a water taxi. They arrived long before the barge and they stayed at the hotel but apparently not the friend's dog. The dog rooms were all full. When the Campers arrived they drove the Bella Coola gravel road with many switchbacks. Then off to the cabin. Did not manage to catch what happened to the dog.

Marg had a week of disasters. While canning with the windows open, a hummingbird flew into the house and after opening all the windows and doors it finally found its way out. They had finished canning but when they went to the freezer it was dead. So they had to throw out anything that was thawing and used the freezer at the church for anything still frozen. Finally, she and Don were watching brit box when Ben comes flying into the room because of a giant racoon in the house eating all the dog food. Don made a huge racket to get rid of the racoon.

Danny last weekend had friends from New York who wanted to go hiking with the good weather up the grouse grind. He checked to make sure they were healthy and that they warmed up and stretched. Part way up one of them got dizzy and was suffering from exhaustion. Danny showed us the treatment points under nose and on the forehead for nausea and headache which he administered. The friend had a drink with electrolytes and after 10 minutes started again and finished the climb. They took the gondola down though. Danny is off to Philippines and Viet Nam and other points west - or east???? Anyway out there somewhere - not here.
