The December 26th and January 2, 2025 Rotary meetings are cancelled. But the December 26th breakfast at the Marriott is on. Let Marylou know. Yes it is going to be 2025 so get over it.

Sunset club has Paul Harris points which can be matched with any donation you want to make. Don't know who to contact or how this works but someone does.

Food bank volunteers are fully booked over Christmas but we can help Jan 7, 10 and in February. If interested let Peter know.

Next week will be Hush Hush Hanirarium, a non-denominational celebration. Make sure you come! Sam has bought us all presents again. Yeh Sam!!!

Other than my brother, only Mr. Dalbir Rai knows him here, say a couple of things if you like
Born: Village; Nangal Khurd, Punjab. India (October 3rd, 1970)
Victor came to Canada in November 1974, 4 years old
Schooling: Carlton elementary (Kingsway/joyce), Tecumseh elementary (Victoria drive/41st), David Thompson High School, McRoberts Junior High, Mathew McNair Senior Secondary
Jobs: Berry Picking, Paper Route, Parking lot attendant, real estate (but he couldn’t do it), insurance courses, career with Vancity Credit Union Insurance Division
Television: Star Trek Fan, Dallas, Three’s Company, Facts of Life
Music: Pink Floyd (Comfortably Numb), AC/DC, Phil Collin’s, Van Halen. Rolling Stones, Typical 80’s music
Sports: Street hockey (goalie), basketball (twirl finger)
Nature: Large in size (intimidating), that wasn’t him at all, he was like the jolly green giant, academicly 70% (street smarts), very very funny, honest man (couldn’t cheat anyone), never had a ounce alcohol in his life (buy you a case of beer)

ਪਿਛਲੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸੱਸ ਇੱਕ ਟਾਰਚ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਦੇਖਣ ਗਈ। ਇੱਕ ਰਾਤ, ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਰੋਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਚੈੱਕ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਮੈਂ ਦੋ ਅੰਡਰਕਵਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੇੜੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ। ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰ ਇੱਕ ਗਲੀ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗਲੀ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ।
"ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ, ਸਰ?" ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ।
"ਮੈਂ ਠੀਕ ਹਾਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਹੋ?" ਮੈਂ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
ਉਹ ਫਿਰ ਪੁੱਛਦੇ ਹਨ, "ਓਹ, ਕੀ ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ?"
ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਹਾਂ, ਇਹ ਮੇਰਾ ਘਰ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।"
ਉਹ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ, "ਠੀਕ ਹੈ, ਬਹੁਤ ਵਧੀਆ। ਧੰਨਵਾਦ।"

ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਦੇਖਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ। ਮੇਰੀ ਸੱਸ ਗਲੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਦੇ ਦਰਵਾਜ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਲਗਿਆ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਬੈਕਅਪ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ।
ਜਲਦੀ ਹੀ, ਚਾਰ ਹੋਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਆ ਗਈਆਂ, ਕੁੱਲ ਛੇ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਹੋ ਗਈਆਂ, ਕਈ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਕੁੱਤਾ ਵੀ। ਇਸ ਦੌਰਾਨ, ਅਸੀਂ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਨ। ਕੁਝ ਮਿੰਟਾਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਮੈਂ ਦੁੱਧ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਗਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਬਾਹਰ ਗਿਆ। ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਗਰਾਜ ਦਾ ਤਾਲਾ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਮੈਂ ਫਿਰ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਖਿਆ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁਚੀ ਦਿਖਾਈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਮੈਂ ਥੋੜਾ ਅਸਵੱਛ ਮਹਿਸੂਸ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ 'ਤੇ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ।" ਇੱਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਪੜੋਸੀ ਨੇ ਕਾਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੋਈ ਚੋਰ ਹੈ।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰਾ ID ਮੰਗਿਆ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰਾ ਬਟੂਆ ਘਰ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਮੈਂ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਬਟੂਆ ਗਰਾਜ ਤੋਂ ਲੈਣ ਦਿਓ।"
ID ਵੇਖਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਾਲਾਤ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਆ ਗਈ।
ਜਦੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ ਕਿਉਂ ਪਈ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਪੜੋਸੀ ਨੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੱਕੀ ਹਲਚਲ ਬਾਰੇ ਕਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸੋਚਿਆ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਚੋਰ ਹਾਂ।
ਮੈਂ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, "ਕੀ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਦੱਸ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ ਕਿ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਪੜੋਸੀ ਨੇ ਕਾਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕਰ ਸਕਾਂ?"
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇ ਸਕਦੇ।"

ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ, ਬੌਬੀ, ਇੱਕ ਪੜੋਸੀ, ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਾਲ ਕਰਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, "ਪਿਛਲੀ ਰਾਤ ਕੀ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ? ਮੇਰੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਚੀਕਾਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ।"
ਮੈਂ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਘਟਨਾ ਬਿਆਨ ਕੀਤੀ।
