Our club is joining with other clubs to award a Richmond external Paul Harris award in March of 2022. So start thinking of a deserving recipient.
Covid passports are now necessary.
September 30th Federal Statutory Holiday, the first National Reconciliation Day.
World Polio Day is October 24th.
The club AGM will be on November 4th .
There will be no meeting on November 11th, recognizing Remembrance Day.
The Lower Mainland Foundation dinner/event will be held on February 5th 2022 – more details will follow.

sergeant At Arms Tidbits
Ron at Whistler for a few days. Cougar Mountain had light show. Pemberton potatoes are a highlight.

Larry busy at work. Planning to pick apples on Saturday and will be bringing his rubber boots.
Joyce cataract surgery last Thursday. List of things she can’t do for three weeks (no golf!). Otherwise, easy peasy.
Susan following doctor’s orders with her elbow brace (unlike Joyce).
Belinda tells Joyce to stay stubborn, using her Mom as an example. She turned 90 still moves her lawns three times a week on a ride em mower. Makes 100’s of cabbage rolls both beef and chicken!
Melinda order your turkey. There is a shortage!
Debbie S got snow tires (another shortage) booked flight to Palm Springs, hasn’t been since March 2020.
Mary Lou just came off Cortes Island for a conference and the Sunshine Coast with friends and then off to Toronto for a weekend with her daughter Lindsay. Hasn’t travelled anywhere since March 2020.
Garth off to Osoyoos hoping for better weather.
Micheal moved offices after 25 years to a new location on Riverside Banquet Hall site.
Debbie T’s son married to a women from Haida Gwaii, so Truth and Reconciliation Day is important to her family. Drew had successful surgery. North 40 dog park in Delta recommended.
Bobby in Whistler hiking and biking. Family birthday in October.
Kal Mahal 150 people at a fundraiser at Dario’s restaurant with Dalbir who didn’t make it to Rotary.
Debbie M’s team won a bronze medal at the Dragon Boat Festival. Busy week at work.
Marg’s literacy programs start next week. Canning season done beets and salsa. Ben ended up having a Covid test after he went to work not feeling well. Negative result and back to work.
Sam (birthday boy) Pat brought a singing bear to celebrate. Channeling his inner Judy May to continue celebrating his birthday with dinner with his family, Improve with friends last night, and will end in 2022.
Bill continued defending his height.

Elena’s friend celebrated her pending purchase of the dog with Dim Sum.
Pat booked Palm Springs, too, since March 2020. Flying out October 19 and trying to navigate the Covid test website to book.
Birthday cake for Sam’s birthday ahead of his Kiva presentation. Covid protocols on blowing out the candle. Bill introduced with notes!

Kiva is a crowdfunding micro funding charitable organization. Slides attached. A borrower applies for a loan, approval process, $25 or more can be lent. Once loans are paid back, go back in the pool. www.kiva.org. Repayment is 90% rate. Kiva is the Swahili word for unity. Sam shared a video outlining how Kiva works all around the world. Now raise $ 1million every 6 days. Supporting entrepreneurs around the world succeed.
Broke off into groups to spend $100 each and Sam will send the funds from the Club today including the Zoom members. Debbie’s S group donated to a single Mom to support her daughter attend university in western Asia. Bill’s group to fund a man in Cambodia building a rickshaw. Chris’ group found a women with five children, who needs another cow. Janet is in Rwanda and is one day left to lend to support her cow. Sam will check to see if we have enough to fully fund the cow. Looking for a woman in Haiti to support for the Zoom call. Sam to investigate and confirm the details. Debbie T suggested showing our Interact Club to assist.
