This is the weekly bulletin for
The Richmond
Sunrise Rotary Club
for July 02, 2019

Last weeks meeting

The meeting was devoted to "roasting" and/or "toasting" outgoing President Larry.  Seemed the score was heavily in favour of toasting!! Judy may have summed it up best as she recalled Larry desiring his year to be full of fun (which it was) but it also contained sadness and pain. Larry survived a broken foot, broken arm, head surgery, an arm in a sling etc. Thank you and congratulations to PP Larry from all Richmond Sunrise Rotarians!

   - Have you noticed - almost every week a theme emerges during SAA time.      As expected the theme this week was the passing (out of the Presidents role) of President Larry.
   - All 25 members in attendance had words for Larry, in addition Debbie M read notes from absentees Johnny AC and Heather.
   - First prize for costume and sassy words goes to - you guessed it - Chris P.
Her funeral garb included black from head to toe with veil and dark glasses. She said that in previous years, being President was on Larry's bucket list. Now that his year is behind him he has transferred being President to his "fuc***" list!
   - Larry graciously thanked everyone and acknowledged and expressed his appreciation for the value of his "Family of Rotary". He thanked Steve for being helpful and supportive "behind the scenes" all year! He also thanked Stewart for doing the weekly setup and takedown.

Happy New (Rotary) Year!!

    - Did you know?   The term “Rotary year” has been used to signify Rotary's annual administrative period since at least 1913. An article in The Rotarian that July noted, “The Rotary year that is rapidly drawing to a close has been signalized by several highly successful joint meetings of Clubs that are so situated as to assemble together easily and conveniently.”

July is Rotary Literacy month

Today's Chuckle(s)

   - A boy asks his father, "Dad, are bugs good to eat?" "That's disgusting. Don't talk about things like that over dinner," the dad replies. After dinner the father asks, "Now, son, what did you want to ask me?" "Oh, nothing," the boy says. "There was a bug in your soup, but now it’s gone."

   - What's the difference between Dubai and Abu Dhabi?   The people in Dubai don't like The Flintstones, but the people in Abu Dhabi dooooo
