Last weeks meeting
President
Sam held a Club update meeting for Committee Reports. For those members not in attendance, Sam's hair is returning to it's roots now that he is back to work. New layout at the room will accommodate speakers and all of us to hear and see Sergeant at Arms with overflow if needed. Thanks, Sandra and Sam, for all the work on this. Chris P as Youth Committee Chair announced we are hosting an incoming Exchange Student next year (not an outgoing).Get your criminal record checks done now. President Elect Debbie Samsom held the Projects Meeting with all in attendance. $1,800 approved for Pathways Clubhouse to continue the Family Mental Health Film night monthly for next year. Susan discussed the Walk for Water project happening September 8 (register at https://acts.ca/walkforwater/)
ahead of the Summer Barbecue at Debbie Samsom's. Amanda confirmed the cost of the BBQ $30 per person. Email to come. Susan announced no photo at Walk for Water now, Club photo to be taken at a later date. Encourage all of us to take selfies at the our Rotary Club plaque at the water station at Steveston and Railway. Send to Sam for our Facebook and Instagram pages. We received a thank you note from a Breast in a Boat for our support. Gord encouraged us to attend the Vision 2020 District Rotary Convention. See PE Debbie's instructions for Wine Survivor below. Happy 48th Wedding Anniversary to Judy and Ralph.
Congratulations to Debbie T in another successful Ride to Conquer Cancer. Her team the Brainiacs have raised over a $1 million dollars for cancer research.
Melinda, Mary Lou, Pat, and Kathy golfed in support of the Richmond Therapeutic Riding Association and had fun doing it.
Susan confirmed it was the city in China that closed the first ever Costco store down early after opening day for safety reasons.
Carolyn has a clean bill of health!
Sandra confirmed Riley is off to UBC.
President Sam is bringing his new colander to Rotary next week to show us what Gourmet Warehouse offers.

Here we go again ....Try not to get voted off the Wine Survivor Island.
This is our annual Club Foundation fundraiser back by popular demand. The entry fee is $20.00 and a bottle of wine valued at 20 (or more if you like!). These become the spoils for the winners. Bring your money and wine to the Rotary meeting on Sept 5th. There are only 60 spots (and you can buy more than one spot) so contact Debbie S right away if you want to participate. You must give her your money and your wine by Sept5th. The daily elimination draws will begin on Monday, Sept 12th . Once you’re in, you’re in. No withdrawing unless you have someone to take your spot!
