This is the weekly bulletin for
The Richmond Sunrise Rotary Club
August 21/2018
Last weeks meeting

President Larry presented a cheque to Sarah Dunham, Sarah is Program Manager of the BC "Roots of Empathy" Program. Sarah thanked our club for the generous donation to their worthwhile program.

Speakers were Drew Binnette and Benjamin Berman representing St John Ambulance.  St John Ambulance is the oldest BC charity, started in 1911. Drew and Benjamin focused their talks on the Community Transfer Program started by Drew in 2017. The transfer program provides affordable, reliable, comfortable, door-to-point-of-care transfers for people of all ages who are in a wheelchair or on a stretcher, and have non-life threatening medical conditions that make regular vehicle travel challenging.  They have provided about 900 transfers since they started.

Sargent At Arms tidbits
(SAA conducted by Carolyn)

 - Susan was just a bit late but luckily so as she did not have to endure the rather painful version of "Oh Canada"!

- Visitor Jim Watson (previous member of our club) commented that our singing skills seem to have declined since he was a member...

- Chris P assured us that kids in school and 2 jobs won't keep her from more regular attendance!!

- Mary Lou is back from extensive summer travels. From Northern BC to Tuktoyuktuk, Skagway to Bellingham, Italy and Toronto!! Sounds like a travelogue for a future meeting - after she gets caught up at work and gets some of those moving boxes unpacked? (but by then she may have forgotten most of the details!!)

- President Larry's son's wedding last Saturday, keeping Larry busy hosting and entertaining visitors. An exciting but very busy time for Larry. Also, he is getting prepared for more surgery in Sept..

Jonathan Ross has been accused of shoplifting a kitchen utensil from Walmart. Ross says it was a whisk he was prepared to take.

Two Eskimos sitting in a kayak were chilly, so they lit a fire in the craft. Unsurprisingly it sank, proving once again that you can't have your kayak and heat it too.
