Mary Lou did not have Oscar today so she was going to spend some extra time with the club after the meeting. Instead she went to the office to join the zoom meeting. Took Oscar to the Festival of Lights last week.
Peachy was sick yesterday but Tuesday experienced the traffic nightmare caused by the snow. She left Vancouver at 6 PM and got home at 4 AM. All the closer bridges were closed so she headed to the Port Mann bridge. There were cars out of gas and electric cars with dead batteries. There were buses and cars that had crashed. So yesterday she just lay in bed. 🥵
Garth had a partner that did not get home from the office until 5:30 AM. The Sikh temples are always open with food and tea. Was at Whistler with Jean's niece and family but the snow was not good enough for Garth. Otherwise lots of people on the mountain.
I am ready to move this weekend and will be coming to you from Ladner next week. Moving has been a fulfilling experience. The people we are buying from have a stand alone studio in the back yard and have let us move a bunch of stuff there. Very kind of them.
Marg reports that Don is baking like a mad fiend for the Church Christmas Sale. Ben now has his job back at the airport that he had pre covid after three applications. The new owners did not have a list of prior employees but were straightened out by a friend - not fiend. (See Don above).
Elena had a great breakfast with a friend (not fiend - see Don above) she had helped with her old age pension. Also had a bonding week with other friends.
Susan attended from the dark web at the Palace parking lot wondering where everyone was as she did not get the email. She figured out to zoom in on her phone and we were all pleased to see her. Had her toys in the car (leave them there see free advice above) for the Ghirra toy drive. Disappeared into the ether and we presume off to Costco - and we hope safely.
Larry is amazingly back to work for 10 - 12 hours per day - because why not - he only had six surgeries to deal with his cancer🤕. It is stressful but overall, he is feeling good. There will be a candlelight service for anyone who has lost someone during the year. It is this coming Wednesday night, December 7th at 7 PM. Steve got home okay from the casino.
Christine M. really likes the gorgeous poinsettia planters and thanked Peter for all his hard work and congratulated him on being our president to be to be. (there is Bob then Peter - right? 🧐) Chris is glad she is not working or as principal she would have been at the school and shoveling snow. As well as dealing with all the parents whose kids are not at school. She is attending an event where French will be spoken for two hours. Max will be coming to stay with her and he is looking forward to it because she had a dog.
Gordon was happy to get up and see the snow out the window and happy not to commute out to Burnaby. He is also happy the snow is almost gone.
Debbie S. claimed, without evidence, there was no snow in Palm Springs - yet there was a Christmas Tree. She is playing a lot of pickle ball and swimming. (I'll bet she went running too.) Pickle ball is a great social game partly because there is always wine at the end. Also, when you show up all the players will make the teams up of different players each time. When John leaves, Dad and sister are arriving.
Sam had his own traffic horror story with a 20-minute drive turning into a combined challenge of driving, parking, walking. The snowstorm trifecta. Fortunately, he was able to rescue his car the next day which had not been towed away.
Jeanette felt weird to see herself on the screen. They have been short staffed at work as they were down three nurses. Because of the snow they were even shorter because the nurses who got home late could not make it in the next day. But thankfully the Nurses who made it in were able to make it work.
Debbie T. was glad she could do most of her work from home. Her English Sheep dog loves the snow and catching snowballs. She is off to an orientation conference for the new school trustees and the veterans as there is always something new to learn. She is also off to see "Mom's the Word - Talking Turkey."
Debbie M. saw Mom's the Word with a group of friends (not fiends - see Don above) Took granddaughter to the Festival of Lights and started dancing when she saw them.
Melinda took the grand kids to Disney on Ice and they absolutely loved it. Melinda refused to pay for a $45 wand although lots of people did. Thanks to the Ghirra's for lunch on Saturday and Bill and Debbie M. for suggesting we cancel the meeting. Melinda went to the Interact club with Maddie Pugh who did an excellent job speaking to the club and they were all treated with Pizza (comfort food of choice). John finally decided he needed some boots if he was going to play outside with the grand kids and not have to thaw his giblets afterwards. 🥶
