Judy got up at 430 to cook a cake (I did not catch the name or if she meant AM or PM) that she always makes Christmas morning. (no one told her she was 10 days early.) Hosted the Cruickshank Christmas dinner which is her side of the family. The first year there were 9 and this year there is 43 of them in the party room in her building. Went out for lunch watched the twins play in a hockey tournament. Also mad some ginger bread houses. She also made breakfast for us all.
Dalbir is back from Maui where it did not snow. Obviously – he was wearing shorts to the meeting. He had a great week with lunches and dinners out everyday. Did Pilates with Kal as they do everything together – except come to Rotary every week. Then we only see Dalbir.
Marg and Don do not drive together or do other activities - although she did not specifically mention Pilates.🙆🏻♀️ She has had fun with lunch and dinners out. She had a great dinner with Max. She enjoyed the Chor Leone concert the symphony and a hockey game. Her basement is a mess what with wrapping paper and canning. The upstairs is beautiful. But now she needs to clean up the basement disaster as friends are coming and will be staying in the basement.
Larry had another biopsy and is waiting for results. Steve has resigned his job at Telus because he is bored and is looking for something more aggressive. Debt collection perhaps Steve?
Peter’s temporary foreign workers left yesterday and one of the workers, Miguel had a son who he has not seen yet and is now 4 months old. The workers are constantly on iPads and talking to their families. They are a crucial part of his business.
Sam had a busy weekend with friends involving war games, hockey, and snow boarding. He collapsed because of sore muscles. He had a dream about a dessert to make and he has worked out the concept. He will first do the baking “in camera” until the results are known in case he @#$%^ up. (not a Rotarian word - so club runner auto corrected).
Bill likes getting to Rotary early so he can hear Peter talk about prices in 1948 and Marg’s pickles. Or was it Marg talking about pickles? In any event I bought two jars of them and you should too because they are GREAT! Plus it is for a good cause.
Susan enjoyed getting to know Max better at the meal with Pat at the Richmond country club. She is very busy at Costco.
Kal wished everyone a Happy Hannukah. He is moving to Delta for the odor. If he moves the man cave to Delta all he has to do is breath.
Amanda is back from Saskatchewan where there was beyond miserable weather. She made the mistake of grabbing a metal bar at minus 52. She at first thought she was clever by missing the snow here. There was so much good food in Saskabush. She hopes to start making meetings in person next year as work schedule is changing.
Bob gave us a fun fact - 25% of couples are living apart even though they are still married and get together on the weekend. (Karen may not want to make an exception for the weekends.) Claims this might be a trend. Bob hired an architect for his property in Ladner. (specializing in grow ops.) The architect said to get the appliances first so they/he/she will know what to design. Does that include the glow lamps?
Sandra went to Victoria to celebrate Christmas with her sister. It was not a convenient time for her to have covid because nothing else done gets done. They have a naked Christmas tree in the living room. (yule tide soft porn). She is still looking forward to Christmas.
Gordon welcomed our district governor and guests. A nice moment of his year was watching his youngest granddaughter at fine arts school in Langley in her grade 3 class of 40 singing all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth. And we got to hear Gordon sing it – through his teeth.
Max enjoyed Sunday dinner with Pat, the Dixons (Don and Marg do some things together) and Susan and family. Big thanks to Pat.
Christine M. told his parents that Max will be staying with her starting in January and it is a toss up as to who will look after whom. She is busy in a December that is full of events and her ex husband has arrived from France. Watched the Morocco/France soccer game. He does not like the dog too near him but took a picture of the retriever on the couch with cat beside the dog and his head on ex husband’s lap. She went to Lunch Lady on commercial drive which apparently is Vietnamese with a French touch. (Quebecois or Parisienne?)
Carolyn is busy at work. Enjoyed the Chambers Christmas party. Christmas is ramping up at home with the 2 and 4 year old. Went shopping to buy something for daughter/mom and told the kids to keep it a secret. Carolyn hid the slippers. But of course the two year old told mom about the slippers for Christmas and that it was a surprise.
Pat was in thank you mode to Judy for breakfast and the club for the achievement certificates. Has been to the outlet mall and going out for lunch today, so busy times. Had time to squeeze in the grandkids hockey and volleyball games.
Garth had his last court appearance and won – without even saying a word. As someone pointed out he was once again found innocent. The six Chor Leone concerts start tomorrow. He is then off to Palm Springs for a month.
Elena celebrated her 46th anniversary with a family gathering. She enjoyed volunteering at the food bank for 3 hours in crowd control. She saw the fridge the club donated and the money presented from the Club. All of which makes her proud of our club. She was also at the Toy Drive and it was nice to see all who came.
Danny had his first time at food bank and he volunteered to make hot chocolate for the volunteers and patrons. He was also assigned to making flowers out of plastic. After an hour and a half he looked like Casper the friendly ghost. He is starting to train again to climb a mountain in Alberta next week. It’s only -9 in Lake Louise. 🗻
Michael said the toy drive was really busy thanks to the Rotarians. He is off to Canuck place and Children’s Hospital to deliver some of the toys. He is getting ready for photo shoot building a winter wonderland in the house. Brother Sanjiv’s daughter is getting married next June. So they sat around for hours changing plans for the wedding. The Ballrooms are busy with a lot of Christmas parties that require meticulous table setting and a lot of fine tuning.
Bobby’s daughter has come from Toronto for three weeks. They are off to Palm Springs for a week. With new years at whistler. He will also be delivery toys to the food bank and children’s hospital.
I am living in a weed haven where the sweet smell of cannabis permeates the air. It is like living in Kals man cave. Just to give you some idea. Max says there are four malls on Amrum. There are three in Ladner and one of them has two cannabis stores. Moving was exciting because the moving crew that was supposed to move us quit the morning they were supposed to come. The dispatcher quickly organized a replacement crew and packed us up that night. Unloaded the trucks the next morning.
Debbie S played a lot of pickle ball in Palm Springs. She is back for Christmas with her sparkly manicure. She does need highlights for her hair but her hair dresser is gone for a 90 day cruise. Amanda cannot see her until January 3rd. So hair will just have to do. It will be the first time in three years for Christmas with both her offspring.
Mary Lou has been crazy busy as she is never home. They had a party for her 100 year old aunt and saw cousins who Mary Lou had not seen in a long time. She is totally out of it – the Aunt not Mary Lou. Had the Office party with spouses at some gaming place and everyone had a great time gaming. She has been enjoying the grandkids who are so excited with the lights and Christmas.
Max parents, Marc and Kathy wished us a good morning and thanked us for having them join the meeting.
John Berry our DG in person was sorry he missed our meeting a few weeks ago. He is having a wonderful journey visiting all the clubs. He claimed that he was really enjoying our club. Must have driven through Delta – smell that weed. Wow I know I did.
Melinda is enjoying her grandchildren watching them ice skate. Willow said “oh hi you cutie patutie.” They made a gingerbread house that mostly went into their mouths. The avian flu outbreak has led to a massive turkey shortage and they do not know what they are going to get. Customers get angry at the shop, so they need some sweets for their customers. Thanked Judy for great breakfast.
