Richmond Sunrise Rotary is very happy to support the Victor Ghirra Toy Drive again this year. As well as a monetary donation, Rotarians donated toys chosen for the meaning they hold in our lives and for the memories they elicit of giving and receiving during the holiday season. Our contributions will help 20 organizations who work with children and their families and who are in need during this holiday season. By supporting the Ghirra Family and Riverside Banquet Halls, we contribute to the Grand Toy Count. Please see the Invitational Poster included here.

This Thursday we presented a cheque to Kathy Howarth, co-chair of the Richmond Chapter of the Shoebox Project. The project’s mission is to uplift and empower women who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness through in-kind support, education, and community participation. Visit their website https://www.shoeboxproject.ca/home to learn more and for the opportunity to make a donation. Each year, needs are increasing, and we are privileged to support this project.

A fun time at our morning meeting on Hallowe’en. We dressed from a decade, ranging from a decade in the late Cretaceous Period of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, to this decade (if none of our previous decade clothing still fit). We created spooky gingerbread houses and filled bags of candy for those in need. The M’s plus A won the house contest – congratulations! Thanks to Sam for organizing the festivities! Happy, safe Hallowe’en to everyone!

Today, through Kiva, we chose several small businesses world wide who are in need of loans in order to be successful. This is an annual donation made by Richmond Sunrise Rotary and we are proud to say that 95% of the loans we finance have been repaid. Kiva is a beautiful way to help entrepreneurs in need. Check it out at kiva.org.
